from now on...

January is about to end. Whew! The world is moving so fast these days.. this is such a blast month for me as I had good times and bad times.. but I survived anyway. One thing that I love from my self is that I know where boundaries need to be set against the old ways and creating new ways to solve my personal issues that I’m dealing with.

I made a realization lately, I must give my heart the space it needs to be safe.. from now on. I admit I’m too quick to trust someone. I guess I need to keep ‘emotional distance’ until the person become trustworthy.. from now on.
Haaay! sorry folks, i’m such a drama queen :-(.

AMD vs Intel

These two strong processor companies AMD and Intel are still battling for its performance, sales and market share since the millennium starts. As we all know for the past few years AMD introduced more innovative chip designs with a lower price which attract big businesses and consumers. But now, Intel is back with a string of quad-core processor releases. This scenario had a big impact on the part of AMD as they announced a $574 million loss last week.

According to Kevin Knox, AMD’s VP (tells Information Week) says “the company is betting that everything will change with the release of AMD's native quad-core processor in midyear. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you it hasn't become more competitive. We're still kicking the bear. They're more competitive today, but we're still winning our share. It will be competitive, yes, for the next several months. Quad-core will be our breakaway.”

Well, I’m hoping the battle will continue. This healthy competition will benefit the consumers for a ‘high-performance’ product at a low cost in the near future.

Today’s temperature is 41 degrees, huh! stinking hot baby! But who can stop celebrating the biggest event Australia day?! This afternoon I and my cousins went to Swan Bell Tower to witness the fireworks display. The time we arrived, the place is crowded though. While waiting for the fireworks to begin, I enjoy watching people wearing Australian flag as piece of clothing. Some people paint their faces. TAFE International new website launch..

Tafe International Western Australia has officially launched its new redesigned website. See: http://www.tiwa.com.au .With a brand new modern look, the website provides a better service for all the needs of the stakeholders - i’m definitely one of them :-D, improved usability and navigation as well. See for yourself!

On the other hand, as you browse the ‘About us’ section you will find this page ‘Student Testimonials’ – you will know what the students have to say about studying in TAFE and living in Perth. But these are selected international students to represent each TAFE campus. Hey they chose me, maybe because they want to include Philippines. hehe.. Yeah, i did participate but I just wrote a short testimonial. Here’s the link:

Avid latest tutorial

I've been using Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.0 since i took multimedia as my software in video editing. And all I can say it has enough features, multi-format editing plus all the creative tools which is designed to meet the needs for professional editors,, independent filmmakers and students (like me). But if you have never edited on an Avid system before, you may find it a bit hard to master its interface but take heart as what they said. Once you pass the learning curve, believe me it's a very user-friendly system that i love over a year.

To those avid users, here is their latest tutorial you can download Safe Color Limiter Effect which provides a simple way to ensure that the color values in your video material stay within a limited range.

The only drawback to this software is its high price and a bit tricky i should say, but if you love HD editing then Avid is worth it. I'm far from a guru at this point, but i'm still learning :-D.

Things you never knew your cellphone could do..

Just this morning I've got an email from my uncle about an info on things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. I'm not sure if this has been spread but for those who doesn't know this might be a helpful tips for you.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

I. * The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.*
If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.

II. *Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?*
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive youreys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"*

III. *Subject: Hidden Battery power*
Imagine your cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.
AND

IV. How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

Well, if everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
goodnite everyone :-)
